Well venues don’t come much better than this .. a Westerly facing Ski Park on the outskirts of Brum … The perfect location to watch the sun go down over the water on this swelteringly hot weekend  - when your over a hundred miles from the nearest sea !

One of the things that attracted me n’ Foxx to this brand new rally was the concept of ‘games’ on the lake – specifically a home made raft race. Basically teams had to build their own raft (in 15 minutes) from 4 x large plastic barrels, two wooden pallets and one  reel of nylon rope . More importantly to be in with any chance of winning they had to sail the bastard across 100 yards of open water.

Predictably chaos ensued the second the ‘rafts’ touched the wet stuff and one lady was heard to scream those immortal words ‘Fuck ..It’s freezing’ as her ass hit the water – much to the unconcerned merriment of the assembled masses on dry land with a cold beer in their hands

SNAKES PIX ON THE WATER

Regular visitors to this site will be aware of occasional updates to our ‘Snake’s Pix on the Road’ feature. They may well recall that we extended that to ‘Snake’s Pix in the Air’ when Foxx got to do his whirly bird thing at Nene Valley’s ‘Squires and Spires' rally a year or two back. Well now we done the whole HOG – ‘Snakes Pix on the Water’ courtesy of the Water Ski Park bar staff who wanted to make sure that anyone coming even remotely close to making it across the lake without getting wet had to navigate a wave that would have sunk the Titanic

It was generally agreed that the dog was the winner in the raft race

HELP THE HEROES

‘Help for Heroes’ seemed to be very much the unofficial adopted charity for the event - much as it has been for various other rides and rallies in recent weeks. As a fundraiser someone had the brain wave to invite volunteers to allow themselves to be locked in stocks and submit to the ritual humiliation of custard pies and wet sponges in their face . However I suspect that some (young and old !) took it as an ideal opportunity to settle a few old scores and at least one bombardment subsequently turned into an all out waterfight ! ……. Great stuff on a El Scorchio afternoon

DA BANDS

Not only were the facilities at the site superb (given the use of the Ski park showers and dining facilities) but we were treated to not one , not two but count ‘em SIX superb live acts over the weekend (including the ‘Road Kings’ just back from their appearance at the International rally at St Tropez) + Rockin’ Rob Paston doing his MC thang.

THE ROAD KINGS

PISTON BROKE

McSCRAGGY AND THE SUITS

GUNDOGS

Foxx however was slightly smitten by one particular act - Sam Jones ....
of whom he took a mere 300 pix during her set.
