So here it is ....  proof if it were needed that the 1st ever Autumn Blitz was a blast....

Les and the New Forest HOG party faithful  raised the bar on just how well organised a rally can be ... great complex (inc indoor pool) , comfortable accommodation, fab entertainment from the likes of the Rolling Stones and Tom Jones,  a superbly executed 38 mile parade ride into Bournemouth Pier (apart from the copper who dropped his bike whilst stationery on a roundabout in full view of his commanding officer in a passing range rover... oops but we won't mention that !) ... and last but not least the legendary New Forest HOG fancy dress party

How good could it have been I hear you shout in cyber space ? - well flex that pinkie and hit the scroll wheel on yer mouse ! .... and keep it here - you know it makes sense

EVENT REPORT

Autumn Blitz – Words by ‘Lippy’

The name said it all …. as chapter director Les Williams and the New Forest HOG posse launched the ‘Autumn Blitz’ rally at Sandford caravan park near Wareham in Dorset with the specific intention of ending the rally season with a bang that would register off the Richter scale.

Having outgrown the immensely popular Sandy Balls complex in the New Forest the chapter were desperately in need of a new site into which their late season event could continue to grow enabling the club to enhance their reputation for staging some of the very best events in the UK. With a capacity of 1700 they’ve certainly found it at Sandford given nothing appeared to be too much trouble for the staff.

Heavy rain Friday morning meant some rally goers arrived slightly ‘moist’ but no way were they going to let the weather dampen their determination to make the very most of the last major rally of 2006. The gods of thunder finally relented and by late afternoon the sun was out enabling the kidz to explore the fantastic site facilities on offer including an indoor swimming pool whilst mum and dad sat with a beer watching wave after wave of Harleys roll in.

Friday’s entertainment kicked off with M.C. ‘Rockin’ Robbie P. introducing ‘Chill’, a Pink Floyd Tribute who had punters aptly singing along to ‘Comfortably Numb’ followed by 70’s tribute act ‘Ballroom Glitz’ ensuring a packed dance floor into the early hours.

Saturday morning dawned warm and dry and thankfully stayed that way for the remainder of the weekend. Over four hundred Harleys plus assorted Road Captains, Marshals and Police out riders gathered for a spectacular 38 mile parade ride through the most stunning vistas Dorset has to offer. Respect to the ‘Boyz in Blue’ for faultless organization ensuring nothing – I mean NOTHING got in our way!. Arriving at Bournemouth pier Harley riders relaxed in sweltering sunshine and enjoyed more great live music from ‘The Crack’ whilst the ride in bike show was judged as usual by the Mayor of Bournemouth.

Back on site the evening was kick started by the outrageous piano playing comedian Matt Black before Rob hit the decks until the mega fireworks display began exploding overhead. The ever popular ‘Alpha Connection’ then strutted their funky stuff on through the midnight hour leaving New Forest’s own fave band ‘Mafia’ to deliver some intravenous heads down – no nonsense boogie inspiring legions of fans to inflate their air guitars and spank their planks into the early hours

On Sunday there was a choice of three stunning scenic rides including one to the famous ‘Hovis Hill’ at Shaftesbury and several hundred wisely took the opportunity to slip back into the saddle again.

Sunday night it was time once again for the legendary New Forest fancy dress party and as always the outfits were incredibly innovative with a fab inter chapter rivalry once more in evidence. Having been Rolling Stoned the girls proceeded to get all hot and bothered by a Tom Jones tribute that had one Punk Dwarf on stage substituting her nose for the pussycats (so what’s new?). Abba Rival rounded off the evening with a fine selection from Benny and Bjorn’s back catalogue

If you didn’t make the first ever Autumn Blitz all I can tell you if you missed a weekend that was an absolute blast from beginning to end – (…. I’m sorry ? You’ll have to repeat that my ears are still ringing !)

Love
